I successfully completed another full orbit around the sun. To celebrate, E, C and I went for our first “stay alert” picnic in the park. While it was surprisingly busy for a weekday, it was great to be outside for the longest time since lockdown began.

As an antidote to the stress of Doom Eternal, Will and Andrew gave me the gift of “Animal Crossing: New Horizons”. I don’t think I’ve played a game that requires waiting real days for progression before but the enforced slow pace is a welcome change. My island is called Custard and I now understand more of Tom’s tweets.

As a birthday treat, E made Felicity Cloake’s perfect miso ramen and it was fantastic.

Following last week’s adventures with GPG, Maciej recommended drduh’s guide to using YubiKey for GPG and SSH. Even if you don’t have a YubiKey, it is a thorough guide to setting up a single GPG master key and single-purpose sub-keys.

I went on a related adventure to upgrade my SSH keys from a sole 2048-bit RSA key to a 4096-bit RSA key and a Ed25519 key.
Leo pointed out you can get the public SSH keys for any GitHub user by appending
.keys
to their profile URL, e.g. https://github.com/mudge.keys. You can also use.gpg
to get their public GPG keys, e.g. https://github.com/mudge.gpg. -
Shane told me off for not simply tilting my head in order to better locate last week’s infernal whining noise.

We watched (or is that played?) Netflix’s interactive “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend” and enjoyed it more than I expected. I’m not sure we’ll go back to watch all the alternate paths we could have taken though.
-
Despite being indifferent about the show, E will not stop singing The Mandalorian theme tune. It may well unseat the Outer Wilds theme and XCOM 2’s “Squad Loadout” music as the most annoying earworm in this house.

Paul Ford has started writing a newsletter called “i absolutely am going to bail on this in a month” (there’s an RSS feed too). As a fan of Ford’s Ftrain.com back in the 2000s, this makes me happy.
